I am fundraising for

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service! I’m taking part in the Base to Base Challenge this October to raise funds for this worthwhile charity.

I’ve got one full month to complete my mission on foot, whilst the Rescue Helicopter will be completing approximately 120 missions by air.

While I won’t come close to the Rescue Helicopter’s maximum speed of 310km/h, I will be doing my part to help save lives across Northern NSW.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter provides urgent aeromedical assistance to over 1.5 million people, from Pre-Hospital Emergencies such as motor vehicle, farming and industrial accidents to Inter-Hospital Transfers of critically ill or injured.  As a flying intensive care unit, the crew is able to stabilise patients on the scene or in the air before safely and rapidly delivering them to the most appropriate hospital.

All funds raised on my mission this October will help keep the Rescue Helicopters ready to respond to those who need it most so please make a donation and support my Base to Base mission.

Thank you for your support.

Support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter with me!

Friday 11th Oct
Hi everyone!
This October, I’m excited to take part in the Base to Base Challenge to raise funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, a cause that has become very personal for me and my family. I’ll be walking, running, and swimming a total of 100 kilometers throughout the month to support this incredible service, and I’d love your help!

Late last year, my sister, Aimee and her partner, Arthur, were on a scuba diving trip when a sudden turn of events left them separated in the water. Strong surface currents swept her far from their location, and despite an extensive search, surface vessels couldn’t locate her for four long hours. Thankfully, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter arrived and found her near a series of sea caves, directing boats to her exact location just in time. Without their quick response and life-saving support, things could have turned out very differently.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter is an invaluable service for anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors, whether at the beach, in the bush, or even on the roads. Their high-tech AW139 helicopters can cost around $4,000 per hour to operate, and last year alone, they flew over 1,500 missions to perform critical aeromedical rescues. While these services receive public and private funding, they also rely on donations from people like us to stay in the air and ready to help.

Your support means everything. Donations over $2 are tax-deductible, and every dollar raised goes towards helping the Westpac Rescue Helicopter save more lives. Please consider donating whatever you can. Your generosity will help ensure that the Westpac Rescue Helicopter is there for those who need it, just as it was there for Aimee.

Thank you for your support!

Helicopters are cool. I like the whump whump sound they make close to the ground.
