Get ready for the Ride for the Chopper! It's all about fun, reaching your goals, and supporting the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

In 2024, we're hosting an 8-day, 7-night mountain bike ride with a full support crew. including safety vehicles, bike trailers, catering crew and a very experienced team of Riders to guide and assist you on the adventure of a lifetime! Join us as we explore the stunning New England North West region of New South Wales.

Our 22nd Annual Ride will start in Glen Innes and end in Tamworth taking in the spectacular New England North West region of New South Wales. Along the way, we'll visit a local school, enjoy themed ride days, and have plenty of games and activities.

DAY 1

Friday 13th September

Coach Transport to Glen Innes – Departing 8am from Helicopter Base Tamworth. Once arrived in Glen Innes we will go for an afternoon ride around the local area, before a welcome dinner that night.  

DAY 2

Saturday 14th September

Join us on a day ride to the South East of Glen Innes, taking in the sites of the Mann River, Red Range and Mt Slow.  

DAY 3

Sunday 15th September

Today we head West of Glen Innes through Strathbogie and Wellingrove, before arriving in Inverell for the evening.  

DAY 4

Monday 16th September

Heading North West today we will ride over some spectacular country as we make our way to Warialda.  

DAY 5

Tuesday 17th September

Today we move South from Warialda to Bingara, stopping in at Myall Creek on the way.  

DAY 6

Wednesday 18th September

We will start our day on a coach, heading to Glen Riddle Recreation Reserve, before riding along the Linton Nature Reserve and past Split Rock Dam into Manilla - our base for the next two nights.

DAY 7

Thursday 19th September

We will have a magical day ride around Manilla, taking in some beautiful tablelands country, before celebrating in the evening with our Presentation dinner.

DAY 8

Friday 20th September

Our final day on the 2024 Ride for the Chopper.  We leave Manilla and travel South East back to Tamworth, finishing at our unofficial HQ the Calala Inn.  

Riders fee

Each 7-day rider is asked to pay a ride fee that covers the following:

  • All meals including breakfasts, lunches, snacks and dinners
  • All accommodation at approved venues.
  • Support vehicles and support team
  • 2x 2024 RFTC Ride Jerseys & a polo shirt

TOTAL COST $950.00 pp + $600 fundraising minimum

Fundraising

Each rider is asked to raise a minimum of $600. Fundraising can be done via:

  • Your own fundraising page
  • Selling or purchasing one of the sponsorship packages
  • A personal donation
  • Holding your own event
  • Selling raffle tickets
  • Create your own polo shirt and sell logo positions to corporate companies
  • Come up with your own fundraising ideas!
