In memory of Joyce March 2019

In March 2019 Joyce, a wonderful lady, very dear to  Steve’s heart was caught in a rip as  they swam in front of his home on Dreamtime beach. 

A neighbour and his resuscitation efforts were taken over by an emergency team winched to the beach from the Westpac Rescue helicopter, who managed to restore Joyce's breathing and heart beat on the beach before transferring her to the Tweed Hospital. 

Tragically, Joyce never regained consciousness and passed away in intensive care. While the outcome was heartbreaking, the rescue team's efforts allowed Joyce's family to travel to the hospital and say their final goodbyes to a loving  mother, daughter and Oma. For this invaluable gift of time,   Steve is eternally grateful.

The AW139 Helicopters cost $1,000 per hour in fuel, $1,000 per hour to run the engine, $1,500 for the airframe and for $500 avionics, that’s a total of $4,000 per hour.
